Big Ass Brew 2016

The BAB is one of the recurring events for our club. This year we’re using the club’s 20 gallon system to brew a pale yellow lager. Since this beer gets poured at one of the other recurring club events, the pig roast in the middle of summer, we’re targeting something a little more sessionable and refreshing for a hot day. The plan is to try 3 different lager yeasts and 2 different temperature profiles.

Show up at Graham’s house on Saturday and bring a chair, a cup, some snacks and homebrew to share. We’ll have brats for lunch.

TVH’s annual club only competition will be Saturday, May 18th. The drop off deadline is still about 3 months away (Sat 5/11), so you have all the time you need to brew. Registration opens in April. This is simply your poke in the ribs to add your favorite homebrew recipes to your brewing schedule. All of the details and winner from last year are listed on the competition website. The basic rules/details will stay the same from recent years. We will be using the 2021 BJCP style guidelines. $6 entry fee (which is as cheap as it gets!). 2 - 12 oz bottles per entry are required. Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, & 3rd at each table. The overall Best of Show winner will earn themselves a nice prize too. Pretentious homebrewers need not apply (this is for fun, community building, and cash) 😉 Should your brew be named the best, you will receive $500 cash, the championship belt to boast proudly until next year (think you can you steal it from Cameron Halfacre, last year's reigning champ?), and the chance to brew your winning recipe in our brewhouse alongside our brewers and be featured on our tapwall!
